I took Mr. Ben Cheng’s 4 Hours Beginners course and the Texas LTC Class.
I’ve been wanting to get my LTC for a long time now, but I kept putting it off. Well, now that I have a baby, my own company, and returning to school I felt like it was even more essential. I signed up for the beginners course and the LTC for the same weekend.
The 4 Hours Beginners Course was amazing. I shot long guns before when I was growing up, and also the military, but I’ve never been really comfortable around them. I was recommended to take the LTC Beginners course to learn basic safety and how to handle, manipulate, and shoot. Mr. Cheng immediately made me feel safe with all of his rules of handling tools. I feel confident that I can be safe if I ever needed to handle a handgun.
After leaving the class, I felt I could safely handle a tool, but I did not feel like my shooting ability was enough to pass the test. I let Mr. Cheng know I would not be taking the LTC class the following day.
Well, on the drive home, I changed my mind. I wanted to at least try for experience and also to know what to expect.
The LTC course taught me the responsibilities of being a future gun owner/LTC holder. I passed the written test, but I did not pass the shooting portion. Only scoring a 169. This did not deter me.
Instead, I contacted Mr. Cheng the same evening and asked him for recommendations to improve so that I can test again soon.
Mr. Cheng is professional, I feel entirely safe in the class, and I feel with a little more practice on my own and possibly at a range I will be a LTC holder soon.
I’ve also already recommended both courses to my sister who is planning to take the next available courses.

I was in a class yesterday 1/19/20. While I have my license to carry, it had been quite some time since I’d shot. This class was perfect to get me re-familiarized with my gun and shooting skills and learn a ton of new stuff. I think in general, most people think that the License to Carry class will teach you how to shoot, however, that is not the case. In fact, for that class, you’ll just be “testing out” with your firearm. This class gave us a dry run, so some in the class were ready, some need a little more practice before taking that class. This class is highly recommended for both someone that is looking to get their LTC or someone like me that needed a long overdue refresher.
