This a Texas DPS approved course for school staff wish to become a Texas School Guardian
The Texas School Guardian course is a class mandated by Texas DPS and approved by TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) for qualified school staff wishing to become a School Guardian. The goal of School Guardian is to add another layer of student safety against an active shooter.
Once the school board adopted the School Guardian Program, upon successful completion of this course, school staff can apply with DPS to become a “qualified”, a “certified” and a “volunteer “Texas School Guardian. The School Guardians are allowed to be armed and concealed with a pistol on the school grounds.
The course consists of a minimal two-day or a more extensive 2.5-day training class (recommended). In the 2.5-day training class, we will cover the very important and essential skill of drawing and hitting the targets at various distances from concealment.
The course includes lectures, 5 practical exercises, two written tests and two shooting tests. Students must pass all four tests at 90% or higher in order to graduate from the course.
